ESWET launches a new Task Force to explore the full potential of heat in Waste-to-Energy
In a forward-looking commitment to staying abreast of the dynamic advancements in the realm of Waste-to-Energy, ESWET is launching a new Task Force that will focus on heat application and recovery.
The EU has been working to build a heterogeneous energy system able to meet the rising demand for both electricity and heat, with an emphasis on renewable energy sources. The dynamic reality of the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) sector emerges as one of the key elements to achieving the goals set forth by the European Union in its pursuit of a greener and more resilient energy system. The exploration of heat applications and recovery in WtE plants transcends the conventional understanding of waste disposal and represents an already viable and strategic move toward a more sustainable, circular, and economically vibrant future.
In a forward-looking commitment to staying abreast of the dynamic advancements in the realm of Waste-to-Energy, ESWET is launching a new Task Force that will focus on heat application and recovery.
ESWET Members recognise the crucial role of such applications in shaping the future of WtE plants, as well as how necessary heat recovered from the plants is for EU citizens. This initiative, therefore, aims to monitor, analyse, and contribute to the evolving landscape of heat technologies. The members of the Task Force will focus especially on mapping the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of heat applications for WtE, assessing at the same time the EU legal framework concerning aspects of heat production and recovery.
In the kick-off meeting of the Task Force that took place last week, members unanimously elected Dr.- Ing. Jens Kitzhofer as the Chair of the group. As Research and Development Manager at APEX Group, Jens is an ESWET distinguished member with a wealth of experience in the field.
“APEX Group is proud to be part of the ESWET Task Force on Heat” commented Dr.- Ing. Jens Kitzhofer. “We are certain that this platform – which brings together members of the ESWET community – will generate many constructive conversations that will highlight the importance of the Waste-to-Energy industry in the ongoing green transition. Since Heat Transfer Solutions are at the core of APEX Group’s expertise, we look forward to contributing our knowledge to this pool of collective expertise”, he concluded.
The ESWET Team is thrilled to start this new adventure with the members and wishes good luck to Jens and to all the other members who decided to dedicate their time to this new project!
