Bio360 Week Virtual, 22-26 March 2021
Bio360 Week is coming in virtual format from the 22-26 March this year. It will include a broad programme of short international conferences with simultaneous translation and in parallel, business meetings between all the participants who wish to take full advantage of the opportunity to network together.
And because of the fact that we’ve all been confined to a greater or lesser extent these long hard months, we have decided that it is no time to be imposing yet more constraints ! Bio360 Week Virtual is therefore open to all participants free of charge, ie register for no cost for the Conferences and the Business Meetings!
The Conferences
Keep it light and airy is the Bio360 Week mantra. In a world where much has gone online of late in different forms of “virtual”, we are trying to keep Bio360 Week light and airy by providing the opportunity for participants to cherry pick from a broad range of topics spread over five days.
One conference theme per day is broken down into four daily sessions of 1 ½ hrs each, with generous “stretch your legs” or “grab a coffee” spaces in between each one, in order to avoid screen fatigue. Simultaneous translation french and english (both ways) is provided. And in parallel to the conference there is also the possibility to dip in and out of pre-arranged, face to face online business meetings provides for an environment as close to the real thing as you can get from the comfort of your armchair or desk ! All that then with free access for all because after months of being held back, this is no time to impose further restrictions.
The daily programme overview is as follows. The detailed programme will be published at the end of the month:
Monday 22 nd March
- low carbon transport from biomass: an overview of perspectives and key developments in the aviation, maritime and road-haulage sectors
Tuesday 23rd March
- the pathway to decarbonation, carbon utilisation and carbon sequestration with biochar
Wednesday 24th March
- thermal approaches to green gas : hydrothermal gasification, pyrogasification for direct injection, round table on low-carbon renewable green gas, green hydrogen in the pipeline
Thursday 25th March
- anaerobic digestion – biogas : the environmental and land management benefits, project acceptability
Friday 26th March
- an overview of the bioeconomy, it’s pathways and sectoral applications highlighted with examples and case studies
Business Meetings
Events are all about conversations. Conversations that lead to learning and conversations that open the doors to opportunity. That’s what generates the buzz. That’s what leaves us excited and full of anticipation as we sweep hurriedly through the exit doors on our way to catch the train, hopefully on time, as we lingered a little too long at the end, discussing a brilliant new idea with someone we’d just met !
So, Bio360 Week wouldn’t be Bio360 Week without a way to replicate these conversations, the ones that you might have otherwise had on a stand, in an alley or even over a coffee at the bar.
So, throughout the duration of the week, all participants will be able to have one-to-one conversations with all the other participants ! That could be a lot of one-to-ones ! Actually, you can also invite other participants into a one-to-one, for example you can bring in a colleague or a partner into the discussion, if need be.
So how does all this work ? Once registration opens, you will be able to define your meeting agenda over the five days (ie define the periods when you would be available to meet) and also state what you do and also what you are looking for.
A little later down the line, we will then open up the Meeting Planner which will enable participants to view all the other participants and to request meetings with each other, which both parties then need to confirm. At the end of the process, everyone will have their confirmed meeting agenda for the week and all you then need to do is connect at the right time to have your meetings. The system all works online via our platform, there is nothing to download and nothing to install.
Simple, efficient, no bells and whistles … just a practical tool, designed to keep things moving.
Bio360 Expo Outdoor, summer 2021
We are still hoping to stage a person-to-person event this year, this summer in fact. The idea we are developing is to stage an Outdoor Expo enabling participants to meet in a safe environment where we will be able to introduce open space between all the stands, larger alleyways and the obvious advantage offered in terms of upward air movement where the ceiling is in fact the open sky !
The event is planned to take place in the West of France. More details to follow in March.
Bio360 Expo – where it’s come from and where it’s going
Achieving the transition from a fossil-based economy to a sustainable biobased bioeconomy is founded jointly on bioenergy continuing to significantly grow its vital contribution to decarbonising the energy mix in solid, liquid and gaseous forms … and in order to go the whole distance, we equally need the bioeconomy to come to full fruition.
Biosourcing in the bioeconomy offers the potential to contribute significantly to displacing fossil derivatives across a large range of industries from chemicals to plastics, pharmaceuticals to materials, fertilisers to animal feed, consumer goods to textiles etc and bioenergy equally, to decarbonising the energy mix.
Combining the converging worlds of biogas, biomass, waste-to-x, carbon capture and utilisation, carbon sequestration, the bioeconomy … Bio360 Expo is an international exhihibition providing a panoramic view of all things bio-derived.
Bio360 Expo attracts 7000 professionals and 450 exhibitors from across 35 countries and 5 continents. It’s highly international character is further enhanced through a rich conference programme with simultaneous translation, a large panel of international speakers and international B2B business meetings, study tours to local sites of special interest, the innovation competition etc.
The event themes
Waste-to-X
Bio360 Expo brings together both direct energy capture and new pathways to valorise different waste resource streams. The calorific content of numerous resources such as msw, srf, waste rubber granules, dry sludge amongst others can be converted into energy via a range of technologies including combustion, anaerobic digestion, torrefaction, pyrolysis, thermolysis, pyrogasification, hydrothermal gasification, plasma torch processes etc. The resulting energy forms include heat, chp as well as biomethane through the methanation of syngas. Waste to fuels, roads and plastic are also new areas of waste recovery that are now coming to market.
Biogas
Bio360 Expo brings together the entire biogas sector covering the feedstock supply chain and its pretreatment, the entire process of methanisation and digestate management to energy recovery, including co/tri-generation, upgrading and methanation to biomethane and biognv fuels, CO2 capture and utilisation etc. AD and biogas represent an important diversification activity for agriculture with multiple positive benefits in terms of the environment, decarbonisation, income diversification, waste management, fertilizer management, local employment as well as for other waste management service providers handing large volumes of bio-waste streams, local municipalities and industry.
Biomass
Bio360 Expo brings together the solid biomass to energy for industry and municipality co-generation, heating as well as cooling from wood and agricultural waste streams. CO2 capture and utilisation, carbon sequestration through biochar, methanation of syngas to produce biomethane as well as other processes to produce liquid biofuels, chemicals, nutrients and other materials represent new areas and opportunities for the valorization of solid biomass.
The Bioeconomy
In the context of the global imperative to decarbonise our economic activity everywhere and to transition from a fossil-based economy to a sustainable economy, the event is broadening its “bio-horizon” to incorporate the growing themes of the bioeconomy, eg biomaterials, biochemicals and the cascading use of biomass.
A brief history
With a proven track record in bioenergy events management for over 15 years, BEES has united the three historical exhibitions Biogaz Europe (2010-20), Bois Energie (1998-2020) and ReGen Europe (2019-2020) under the single banner Bio360 Expo Expo where we bring it all together under one roof, under one heading with one direction… ensuring that we fully adopt a renewable, bio-sourced economy and that the fossil economy becomes a thing of the past.
