Hitachi Zosen Inova reaches a new milestone in the UK
In late August 2024, ESWET member Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) successfully delivered the Slough Multifuel Facility, a cutting-edge Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant located just outside of London.
The new plant will treat around 480,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually, generating approximately 60MWe of electrical power for the UK’s National Grid. In addition, the facility will provide steam to a nearby business, furthering the town of Slough’s circular economy.
The steam produced will also be reused by a neighbouring business, and help to decarbonise the Multifuel Facility’s energy-intensive operations over the long term.
With the nearest neighbour only one metre away from the WtE facility, HZI carefully planned the plant’s construction phase to avoid disruption to adjacent businesses,
This project – delivered ahead of schedule – reflects HZI’s commitment to local supply chains, employment, and collaboration with community stakeholders, ensuring minimal disruption across the 45-month construction period.
