Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering supplies Steinmüller grate and boiler to Taoyuan
Commissioning of the Energy from Waste plant Taoyuan will be in summer of 2021.
Nippon Steel [&] Sumikin Engineering received an order for the supply of core components for the new Taoyuan waste incineration plant. The scope of supply and services includes basic and detail engineering for grate and furnace, supply of grate, boiler, heating surface cleaning and parts of the SNCR as well as installation and commissioning supervision. Steinmüller Babcock will support Nippon Steel with the basic and detail engineering and the delivery of the main equipment.
The Taoyuan project, tendered as a BOT scheme by the Taoyuan City Government, was awarded to the Special Purpose Company (SPC) established between Evergreen Steel Corporation, Taiwan’s largest containerise freight shipping company, and CTCI Group, Taiwan’s leading WtE engineering and operating company. Commissioning of the plant will be in summer of 2021. In the plant 27.5 t/h of municipal and industrial waste will be thermally recycled in two incineration lines.
The city of Taoyuan is located in the north of Taiwan and, with 2 million inhabitants, is considered one of the country’s most important industrial centres. Taiwan is regarded as exemplary in the field of waste disposal. Waste has been separated since the 1990s and since the turn of the millennium almost 80% of municipal and industrial waste has been thermally recycled in waste incineration plants.
